About the brand

La Roche-Posay is a french dermatologist tested skincare brand which is suitable even for sensitive skin. This La Roche Posay effaclar foaming gel is specially formulated for acne prone skin under the effaclar range. You can find a bunch of different products under this range which would help you treat your acne and prevent them from recurring. I will be reviewing two more products sooner from the effaclar range.

My experience with La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

I was dealing with continuous breakouts and tried so many products to control them. In the process of finding products that would help me in controlling my breakouts I came across this La Roche-Posay effaclar purifying foaming gel and then checked out the entire effaclar range.  At first, I found it a bit pricey but wanted to give it a try because I was so damn depressed with my breakouts. To start with the packaging, it comes in a white tube with a flip open blue colored cap. The ingredients are present on the back of the tube.

This effaclar foaming gel is transparent in color with gel like runny consistency. It has a mild and calming smell and the packaging is safe and travel-friendly. I have been using it for the past 25 days and I could see many changes in my skin. This effaclar purifying foaming gel is perfect for sensitive oily skin because it removes the excess oil and dirt from the face in a very gentle manner. Two main reasons for pimples and acne are excess oil secretion and clogged pores. So this face wash helps in cleaning the face and clogged pore and also eliminates impurities.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying foaming gel

Huh, was able to capture it after so many failed attempts.

My Before and After experience:

I have an oily to combination skin and this effaclar purifying foaming gel takes off excess oil from the face and at the same time didn’t make my face dry. After using it everyday for 25 days, I have noticed that this has controlled my sebum secretion also. My skin is no more oily like it was before. I mean to say yes it is oily but not the same way how it used to be before. My skin type is gradually becoming less oily to combination. Before when I used to wake up in the morning, my T-Zone used to be sooo oily as if I have dipped my nose in a bowl of oil? But now I could see a notable change in my entire skin. So for the past few days after using this effaclar purifying foaming gel, I am experiencing a slight amount of dryness around my cheeks which disappears after applying moisturiser. I could have skipped this point because the amount of dryness I feel is near to near to negligible but then I wanted to let you guys know that this face wash is only for sensitive oily skin so if you have dry or normal skin this will make your skin drier. And yeah I am also using the moisturiser and toner from the effaclar range along with the effaclar purifying foaming gel.

Now let me talk about its effectiveness in controlling breakouts. Does it prevent and control breakouts?

So as I said I was breaking out a lot and I experienced the pimples only in my T-zone and because of this, my skin became sensitive. I stopped using all of the face products that I was using previously and only used this face wash and other products from effaclar (I will be reviewing them soon) and I can tell that YES this controlled my oily secretion which in turn prevented my skin from further breakouts (except the hormonal breakouts). The ingredient contains zinc which is well known to be helpful in treating pimples and acne. My skin is almost healed and this effaclar purifying foaming gel worked as per its claims for me. I use it twice a day and this 50 ml pack would last for almost 2 months.

How I use it:

I usually take a small amount( pea size) of the product on my fingers and then foam it up by rubbing them with both the hands and gently use it on my face. This not just removes oil but maintains the oil balance on the face.

NOTE: If you are purchasing this online make sure you are purchasing the original product because there are fake products available out there with the same packaging. The original La Roche-Posay Effaclar purifying foaming gel will be gel-like runny consistency but it will not be liquidy. Fake foaming gel is going to be more liquidy when compared to the original one.

I would highly recommend this to you if you have an oily sensitive skin and searching for a face wash that could treat your acne and prevent breakouts. I would also suggest you use the toner and the moisturiser also from the same effaclar range along with the foaming gel for more effective and better results.

Will I repurchase it?

Ummm. I have got another face wash to try which also claims to control oil and acne. I will try that and if that doesn’t work out for me then I will repurchase this I guess.

That is it guys. Stay tuned for the reviews on La Roche-Posay Effaclar Astrigent lotion and La Roche-Posay Effaclar duo. I hope my review helped you to some extent.
