Hair Smoothening at Home
Let’s talk about bad hair days, cuz hey, who doesn’t have one? There are days where I spend time trying to untangle my hair and end up in tears, quite literally! Dry and frizzy hair can be such a drag. They are in fact very hard to tame and pretty much unmanageable. Be it any hair-type, all of us have those bad hair days where our hair starts to act up. Sometimes
Weather plays a major role in how our hair behaves. Whatever be the reason, hair maintenance is an absolute must for girls or women of all ages. And if you have long hair, maintaining them can take heaps and heaps of time and energy.
While many women nowadays opt for hair straightening which helps eliminate everyday mess, but it proves to be harmful for the hair in the long run. With the chemicals your hair is exposed to, it undergoes a lot of damage which can result in excessive hair fall. So what is the solution?
Natural ingredients are always there to save you. It only requires patience and willpower for you to be able to see the results. I am a firm believer in the usage of natural elements over chemicals that are rather harsh on the skin/hair. Keratin treatments are good but again, they are quite expensive and you need to regularly renew your hair to get the right kind of nourishment.
So today we have one more amazing DIY recipe that works like magic on the hair. I’ve been doing this for over a month now and trust me, the results are quite evident. I’m loving the way my hair feels so smooth and soft now, minus the frizz!
I found this recipe on a random YouTube channel which I encountered like 2 years back. It was titled as “Permanent hair straightening at home”.At first, the title looked delusional and almost not believing in it, I decide to have a look at the video. It also was mentioned that it may take up to 7-8 attempts for results to be clearly seen. This looked sensible to me and I decided to give it a try as there were only natural ingredients in the recipe.
I don’t remember the name of the channel or I would have credited it here. But all thanks to the lady who has actually shared it, I have such a wonderful recipe to treat my hair now. And now, I am so excited to share this with you all. I hope it will be beneficial to everyone reading this post, as much as it is for me.
Alright now without further ado, let’s get into the recipe.
Things you will require for DIY hair smoothening
Coconut – 80 gms
Corn flour – 2tbspns
Lemon juice – 3-4 drops
Castor oil – 2 teaspoon
Water as required
Method of Preparation of DIY hair smoothing
Roughly peel the skin of coconut, slice them and put it in a blender.
Blend the coconut into a fine paste, add a little water to make it into a paste. Be very careful of adding water, you do not want a very runny mixture. Neither should it dilute. Now take a muslin cloth, strain the coconut milk until there’s only coconut residue left.
Take another bowl, add two teaspoons of corn flour and lemon juice, add a little water and mix it well.
In a pan add the coconut milk and the cornflour mixture and cook it until it is of a thick paste-like consistency. Once it is cooled down, add the castor oil and mix well.
You can preserve this mixture by refrigerating for a month’s time.
Comb your hair well, ensuring there is no frizz or tangles. Part your hair into two sides.
Take out a generous amount of this mixture and apply it all over your hair. Continue doing the same on the other side. Make sure you cover all of your hair without leaving any strand untouched.
Wear a shower cap and let it sit on the hair for about half an hour.
Rinse your hair with a shampoo and towel dry gently.
You can start to feel the difference with just one-time usage. Over time, the results keep getting enhanced and your hair will thank you for the much-needed nourishment.
Using coconut milk is an excellent way of nourishing your hair as it is rich in calcium and vitamins. It also helps relieve itchy scalp, promotes hair growth, brings back luster and shine, and what not!
Castor oil is yet another miracle ingredient that has several properties that are good for hair. Lemon juice which is again rich in Vitamin – C can help in strengthening hair follicles and lastly, corn flour is a very good moisturizer for hair which is used as an ingredient in hair masks/hair conditioners.
